7 Levels of Energy

What if you could change the way you view the world, approach problems, and engage with others?

That's exactly what happened in my life. It was nothing short of a miracle to me.

Here's what happened:

In 2017, I was burned out at work and facing a crisis in my personal life. I hired a coach. She had me take the Energy Leadership Index attitudinal assessment. The insight I gained from my Energy Leadership Index results were a game changer for me.

The ELI is a research-backed tool that shows us how we respond when stress hits and how our responses serve and hinder us. (Learn more about it here.) It helps us learn the 7 Levels of Energy and how we tend to show up.

The Energy Leadership Index assessment identifies opportunities we have to change our responses even if the circumstances don’t change.

I wish every leader could take this assessment.

The freedom this framework brought into my life is one of the key reasons I chose to step into the rigorous experience of coaching certification with the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching. The ELI is only available through certified administrators like me.

__________

Here's a very specific example of how energy levels can impact you and me cited directly from an Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching article. What follows is an example of how the 7 Levels of Energy appeared in someone's life in a relatable way.

Scenario: Your Boss Hands You a Last-Minute Project With a Short Deadline

Level 1: Victim Energy

(“Why me?”)

You feel powerless and unable to speak up about your full workload. You call your friend to complain about the situation, lamenting that your boss must not care about you or your workload and that it is never going to get better.

Level 2: Anger Energy

(“Are you serious?!”)

You get mad and stew in frustration, inwardly (or outwardly!) cursing your boss for not giving you an adequate amount of time to do your job.

Level 3: Coping Energy

(“This is just the way it is.”)

You let it go (while maybe rolling your eyes a little) and do your best to just get through the rest of the day. After all, performance reviews are coming up and you are hoping to get that promotion you’ve had your eye on.

Level 4: Care Energy

(“How can I help?”)

You jump into action, asking your boss what else you can take from their plate to support them and the team—even if it leads to burnout from taking on too much.

Level 5: Solution-focused Energy

(“How can I make this a win-win?”)

You approach the task with a long-term perspective, viewing it as part of your career development and a stepping stone toward your big goals—the opportunity to step up is a win for you and your company.

Level 6: Connection Energy

(“We’re in this together. I trust the process.”)

You view the project as an opportunity to collaborate, not just with colleagues but with the universe itself. You bring passion and creativity to the task, creating innovative solutions and achieving remarkable results.

Level 7: Bliss Energy

(“I am creator, experiencer, and observer of the work.”)

You feel just as much joy in this experience as you do lounging on the beach or having a delicious meal with a friend. You don’t believe in “good” or “bad” experiences—everything is an expression of the divine.

__________

No doubt you could relate to one or more of these energy levels closely. I sure can!

The ELI assessment takes this awareness and provides language and tools to help you identify how you tend to show up in stressful scenarios and authentically show up in a different way.

In a word (or two), the ELI assessment is leadership gold.

I’ve been offering the ELI at a deep discount the last 2 years to clients while my business was building momentum.

My rates for the ELI go up tomorrow, February 1, and they will not go back down.

Many of my certified peers offer the ELI for $499 or more.

My new price is $297.

But that's tomorrow. Today, I'm still offering ELIs for $97.

You can still act on this discounted price today if you'd like.

When you purchase an ELI from me, you get a unique assessment link to complete online, and I email your results back to you after they've been processed.

You get a video from me that debriefs and explains exactly what your results mean. I also provide you several powerful coaching questions to help you process your results and identify opportunities for growth at work and home.

It’s been years since I first took the ELI, and I still refer back to my results in times of stress to gain insight and get unstuck.

The ELI is an investment that's paid dividends into my personal relationships and leadership development many times over the years.

If you're interested, grab your assessment before midnight!

Here’s to our growing self awareness!
